Our story

2003

First time we met

Over two decades ago, Steve met with his biggest life challenge yet in the form of ‘Debbie Molony’.  Having been friends for a few years after meeting at a party at Sue McShea’s home near Poole, Steve decided that simply seeing Debbie a couple of evenings a week just wasn’t enough and needed more of her company.  One cold New Years Eve, Steve hid in a bush close to where Debbie was living and declared his love for her when she returned from a party.  How could she resist the good looks, charm and sense of humour of such a guy?

They were hugely grateful to be offered a room at the Joneses ‘Pink House’ where they could live together for the first few months of their relationship.  They realised they had slightly over-stayed their welcome when shoes started to thud at their bedroom door in the mornings, indicating that Mrs Jones had almost crippled herself yet again walking through her front door and tripping over their footwear strewn all over the hallway.

They quickly parted company with the Joneses to travel for a couple of months across Australia before settling down in their new home, popping out a couple of awesome babies and embarking on a rather interesting and crazy life together.

August 2023 (final proposal in a long history of many)

She said "Yes"

Debbie and Steve took a child-free holiday to Greece with one of Debbie’s oldest friends, Helen Webber where the proposal took place on a romantic boat trip (minus Helen – she was eagerly awaiting their return and really hoping that this time, a wedding would actually take place)

Debbie had no idea that Steve had been trying to obtain her older and fatter ring size by getting her to locate previous engagement rings, saying they were needed for an insurance valuation.  She was also clueless that a new engagement ring had been secretly stashed in his luggage and flown with them all the way to Greece in preparation for the surprise.
